“Again, you can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something—your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.” -Steve Jobs
Many times we live in retrospect instead of standing to smell and appreciate the flowers/flaws of the now. Somehow the beauty of today; the one planned, prepared and pursued by yesterday appears enticing as a concept instead of a reality. "Annie" had many of us singing, "The sun will come out tomorrow" - We curse the rain that fills our reservoirs as much as we curse the figurative rain in our lives that build our faith, teach us our tenacity and show us our strength.
Nine out of ten people are seeking a way to make a difference in their lives. The oppressed are looking to be free. The free are looking for purpose. The purposed are looking to pursue a "greater" life. Rarely are we finding those who want to appreciate where they are in the moment. We choose FEAR (Finding Every Alternate Reason) as an escape goat to run from the dreams we claim we are working through in Faith! FEAR becomes the companion we can depend on because it keeps us in our comfort zones. Yes, FEAR, keeps us in familiar territory- one that is tolerable. It robs us of the reasons to move forward in listening to our intuition, our instincts, and our faith or “whatever you want to call it” as Steve Jobs said.
The quote above indicates when we actually take the time to look back; we recognize how we were connecting the dots all along. Unlike the actual game where all the dots are visible making it easy to chart a way out, connecting the dots in our lives don’t have to be in retrospect if we remain in the present. If we choose to trust every moment as where we are supposed to be, we can see how we are all connected, where each experience fits in and why we meet the people we do. In seeking something philosophical all the time, we risk ruining the power of a now. The beauty of a cheek softly brushing against another can be lost because of a rushing into the next moment. The irreplaceable audience of two listening ears focused and attentive to the concerns of an aching heart talking, laughing or even singing out there troubles can’t be discarded as “just a moment”! For in doing so, you may have missed an opportune moment to actually demonstrate what Faith really is.
If faith is the believing in something that you’re hoping for to come, why not behave like it is actually coming and prepare? Because we rather find every alternate reason for it to fail, we overlook there’s a Divine cheerleader in our corner rooting for our win. A force so enamored with us that it will place a nugget of influence in our failures for us to grow towards the wins we seek. When we move in the power of being present in the moment we don’t rush down avenues our intuition advised us against…we trust the instincts that told us to take a step forward…we dance in faith today knowing what is to come, be it big or small, will be tailor made for us and we walk with a bendable yet unbreakable belief of all will be as it should be; which is to our benefit. Whatever, we choose to call it? Intuition, Instincts or Faith- "It" is an intangible force bigger which chose to reside within us.
